The KZN Music Imbizo has 50 stands available for SMMEs, Corporates and Government Departments at their fast growing international music business conference and exhibition, which will be taking place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium (Durban, South Africa) from Thursday 31 August till Saturday 02 September , 9am – 6pm.
The KZN Music Imbizo is becoming an international platform with interest from all over Africa and Europe.
What started as a provincial platform for sharing ideas about growing the music industry within KwaZulu-Natal is becoming an important platform in the continent. The 2016 installation hosted over 10 countries plus numerous top level decision makers in the global music industry. 2017 is going to maintain and improve in the quality of speakers and also put an emphasis on the perfomances during the three day conference.
The exhibition space is also boosted to accommodate 50 stands of varying sizes – 2×2, 3×2 and 3×3. There will be a full programme for the exhibition area that will make sure that a strong foot traffic is attracted and remains at the space for long periods. The exhibition area will also have a café area, a stage for presentations plus a lounge area. (please see attached floor plans).
The actual dates for the KZN Music Imbizo 2017 are out – Thursday 31 August to Saturday 02 September. The venue is still Moses Mabhida Stadium. As usual the KZN Music Imbizo will host panel discussions, exhibitions, an equipment demo, showcases, music producer forum, speed meetings plus film screenings. In addition, this year a new format for introducing new music (listening sessions) and music video pitches will be introduced. This will be a very interesting space, a good place for music compilers and music video schedulers to discover new talent and visuals.
The theme for the KZN Music Imbizo 2017 is the THE DIGITAL FUTURE. The global music industry experienced its first growth in over twenty years during 2016 and it is ushered by digital music streaming. As new revenue streams and innovations come in, changing listening and buying habits – old revenue streams like live performances, publishing and vinyl sales are showing growth. The understanding of intellectual property and copyright has never been as important as it is now. Where is Africa in this music industry world where tech companies, music streaming, value gaps and ownership are hot topics?
Over the years, the KZN Music Imbizo has hosted a number of industry organisations and companies at the exhibition space like KwaZulu Natal United Music Industry Association (KUMISA), uKhozi FM, MAPPP SETA (now CATHS SETA), CIPRO (now CIPC), SHEER Publishing, Department of Arts and Culture (National), Boston Media House (Umhlanga Campus), VIP Booking (Denmark) and many others.
