Booking Agent and Creative Producer for Akum Agency & Coordinator, Azgo Festival and Igoda (Mozambique)
Jess White is a creative and dynamic event producer and booking agent, providing a platform to music, the arts and creative expression in Mozambique, the region and beyond.
Working as Festival Coordinator of Azgo Festival in Mozambique, since 2014, Jess programs and coordinates Mozambique’s finest international arts festival. Azgo is a contemporary celebration of arts and culture, with a strong focus on artists from Mozambique and from around the continent of Africa. In addition to programming a diverse music, film and dance program, Jess coordinates the Azgo Dialogar which is a two-day forum and workshop program creating a platform on arts and cultural management and the importance of developing the creative industry in Mozambique and within the Southern African region.
Igoda, is a unique and innovative concept that brings together the finest music festivals within Southern Africa to create one of the first touring circuits on the continent of Africa. Jess coordinates the shared programming and movement of artists within the circuit across a 5 countries, in a three-week period.
In 2014, Jess founded Akum Agency, an independent agency, promoter and creative production company. At present Jess has a diverse roster of artists from Australia, New Zealand, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ghana, Mali, Mozambique and Brazil/Venezuela, nurturing their respective talents and building their profile to national and international audiences. In the creative producer chair, Jess creates and produces shows with exciting and diverse line-ups, which break boundaries and cross-cultural borders.
Originally from Australia, Jess worked with the Australasian Worldwide Music Expo in Melbourne on artist programming, conference programming and marketing the expo – which is the Southern Hemisphere’s premier music industry conference and showcase event for roots and world music – before relocating to Southern Africa.
