Music Programmer: Roskilde Festival (Denmark)
Peter Hvalkof became involved in live music as a teenager.
He has retained his early links with music throughout his life and, during his 20-year career as a teacher and librarian; he gave much of his free time to music programming, eventually switching to music as his full-time job.
His principal focus in music has been the Roskilde Festival, held in Denmark and one of Europe’s biggest music festivals. Hvalkof has held several important Roskilde posts, from programmer and booker to assistant manager. He is also deeply involved in other projects related to world music, including serving as music director at Global CPH, the world music venue in Copenhagen.
Hvalkof played a key role during the three-year (2009-2011) Copenhagen residency of WOMEX.
